Client Reviews

Thank you and your team for the fantastic job you did to my large Holm Oak. I was delighted with the speed and trouble you took with the original enquiry and estimate and the explanation of what you were going to do.

John K Sneyd Park

Great job from start to finish. Mike took on the work that another operator turned down as too difficult. Mike also handled the council planning side of things. Mike and his team arrived promptly and completed the job in the day removing all the waste and leaving all the wood I wanted to keep. I will use their services again.”

Rob Boreham Abbotts Leigh

I used Arb Tree Works after being recommended by a friend. I can honestly say that they were so prompt, efficient and completely professional the way they quoted then carried out the work. They totally cleared and tidied up after themselves. I cannot recommend them highly enough and found them to be extremely courteous in every way. They totally transformed my garden for the better.”

Laura Day, Westbury on Trym

Thank you Mike and all your team for all your hard work. I am really pleased with everything and will certainly leave you a review. I am always very grateful for your efforts and your professionalism.

Gill Sawyer Henbury

A very professional company! All my required tree and hedge work carried out to a very high standard. I was very pleased with the finished work. You would never think I had someone in my garden trimming trees! Would highly recommend Arb Tree Works..

Wayne Winterbourne Down

Mike and his team previously worked for me on a Leyland Cypress hedge with amazing results. Another neat and tidy job exactly to requirement, along with care taken to remove the branches through the restricted lobby access. From quotation through to completion of job, Mike and Team were honest, reliable and organised. Highly recommended.”

Sue Battson Bristol

Thanks Mike, we're very happy with the work done. I'll be in touch when we want to work on the other big trees in the near future.

Simon Kirke Ashley Down

Keith Windsor Bradley Stoke

Absolutely brilliant! Reliable, trustworthy and diligent. Mike provides a spot-on service from quotes through to actual tree work and tidying up. Have used his services multiple times and will continue to do so.

Mick Dore Rudgeway, Bristol

Another fantastic job complete by Arb Tree Works. This is the fourth time we’ve used Mike and his team and I can’t speak highly enough about the quality of work. A very professional service right from the initial quote through to the clean up on job completion. Very competitively priced, the Team are both friendly and knowledgable. We’ll definitely continue to use Arb Tree Works for future work.”

Jake Fagg Bishopston

Absolutely top class! My overgrown rear garden was de-cluttered within two hours of their arrival. High standard of work and reasonably priced. Recommended highly!!

Gerard James Bishopston

We had three very large trees pollarded to the rear of our communal garden, and now the space is transformed. Mike and his team did the work so efficiently and well, the garden looked tidier than it ever had. They even “hoovered” up stray leaves and twigs. So much so we used them again up at our Bridge Farm Site…..another job fabulously done…..the icing on the cake; they really are very nice people!”

Maggie Coles - Ashley Vale Action Group LTD St Werburghs

Mike has completed several major pieces of tree surgery in our large garden. He worked in a safe and very professional way. It is fantastic to see such careful and knowledgeable work and it was great to see Mike’s enthusiasm and obvious love of working with and amongst trees, but best of all he is such a lovely guy!”

Helen & Alan Potter Alveston

I have never seen such a professional team of tree surgeons. All their kit, machines and ropes were of top standard and the care they took over their chainsaws was the best I have ever seen and I am a chain saw instructor. I know what Health and Safety demands when undertaking such dangerous work and Michael and his team ticked all the boxes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions? We’ve Got The Answers

Can the roots of trees be pruned ? .

While root pruning is an accepted arboricultural practice, the extent of pruning and the specific types of roots affected should be carefully evaluated to avoid compromising tree health and stability.

  • Structural roots – integral to anchor and support a tree’s structure in the ground via cohesion.
  • Absorptive roots – non-woody short lived fibrous roots of less than one millimetre in diameter that form important symbiotic relationships with mycorrhizal fungi. Their primary function is the uptake of water and nutrients to areas of the tree that require resources for growth and reactive growth.

The importance of a tree’s root zone and the surrounding soil is essential for structural cohesion and nutrient availability and often overlooked. These elements are critical to the tree’s stability and overall physiological health.

Roots serve as the tree’s lifeline, anchoring it securely in the soil while enabling the uptake of water and nutrients necessary for the tree we see above ground.

Whilst there is a common law right to prune branches that overhang property, an application to carry out work to a tree, either protected by a Tree preservation Order (TPO) or within in a Conservation Area requires consent from the local council planning team in the form of, an application, or a ‘Section 211 Notice – Works to Trees within a Conservation Area’, respectively.

We can provide this service on your behalf or assist with advice for submitting planning applications.

The optimal time to prune trees varies between species.

Our knowledgeable team considers the pruning season and external, biotic and abiotic factors which can have an impact on a tree’s response to pruning to provide you with sound advice for your tree’s prosperity.

As part of our service, Arb Tree Works outlines clear arrangements for the responsible disposal of all branch and wood timber arisings generated during our work.

Clients are increasingly requesting that the woodchip generated from our work be retained for use on their property. We are glad to support this as awareness of the many benefits to soil, plants and fungi grows!

As awareness increases into the benefit of retaining wood & deadwood volumes, we are also glad to support the retention of this for the benefit to the surrounding ecology and firewood.
